Tele-Monitoring of Schools started in Koraput

After the enactment of Right to Education it has become the obligation of all stake holders to see that all school going aged children attend the schools and all concern become sensitive enough to respond to this imminent need. In order to prepare itself the administration has taken few steps to have effective monitoring and supervision of all schools in the district. Apart form the Rapid Monitoring System, each CRCC and BRCC is suppose to visit minimum 10 schools each every month. Following new initiaves are added to the already focused monitoring.

  • Tele-monitoring of schools is started whereby a database of mobile numbers of all the teachers is prepared and teachers in around 20 schools are being called everyday in order to assess his/her whereabouts. Questions are being asked about number of teachers present in the school, class wise students attendance, MDM etc. After the conversation with the teachers the mobile is asked to hand over to a student and the facts narrated by teacher are being verified from the student. Other questions pertaining to use to toilet, drinking water facility and hand washing are also being asked to the students.
With all its drawback this monitoring is likely to have some impact. The calls are generally made around 10:30 am , around 1:30 pm and 4 pm.

  • one small step in the direction to create awareness about the responsibility of parents towards education of their children on pilot basis a decision is being taken that BPL rice of the family will be withheld if they do not send their children to the school. This pilot initiative is being started from today i.e. 9th December taking all PRI members into confidence and with adequate awareness in Suku GP of Koraput Block.

Koraput dist has taken a leap forward as far as streamlining of educational set up of the dist is concerned. Thanks to the Rapid monitoring system effectively enforced in the dist, if not anything it has reduced teacher absenteesm in the schools to a great extent. The surprise visit as well as timely action against the erring staff has put the teachers at awe.And now telemonitoring would be another step towards achieving the goals of Sarba Sikshya Abhijan in letter and spirit..Thanks to the efforts of Collector. Good luck Sir.

Being a girl of Koraput I must say, here people are sometimes unaware of the importance of education. It is correlated to the entire developmental factor and economical growth even it is the only long term strategy to overcoming any developmental issues. The idea of linking the “BPL rice” will definitely going to work here. Hope the demand will be generated in future by the people. Sir thanks for the initiation.
Thank You
Poonam

I am worry about teachers. They are not well paid .Also they travel long distance to reach a remote school.Whether this initiative discussed with teachers and accepted by them .We should consider their view on such type of initiative .Also i am not happy with the sentence"After the conversation with the teachers the mobile is asked to hand over to a student and the facts narrated by teacher are being verified from the student".Whether this will affect the self respect of a teacher .This is just my thought sir .
